Airborne Equipment and instrument that are installed in an aircraft, or space vehicle need to be tested for a variety of temperatures and altitude conditions, such as cold, hot and low atmospheric pressure.
The purpose of such tests is to determine the performance characteristics of the airborne equipment under simulated environmental conditions representative of those which may be encountered during flights.
Such tests are conducted by Thermodyne Engineering Ltd. in accordance with RTCA-DO-160 Section 4, for any temperature conditions from -55° C to +85° C and altitudes from -15,000 ft to + 70,000 ft and for all categories.
RTCA/DO-160 is an acceptable standard for testing and application for Type Certificate or Supplement Type Certificate by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration.
